General information
Four Seasons Resort Aviara is in the city of Carlsbad, located between Los Angeles and San Diego, two of California's largest centres. Carlsbad, known as "the Village by the Sea," was named for a famous spa in Karlsbad, Bohemia, because of the similarity of its mineral water. Carlsbad is bordered entirely on the west by the Pacific Ocean and long stretches of uncrowded beaches. The name "Aviara" is a creative blend of the terms "aviary," a home for birds and "terra," meaning earth.
